Congressman Bachus Statement on Benghazi Vote

Statement

Date: May 9, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Spencer Bachus (AL-6) issued the following statement on today's House vote to form a select committee to investigate the events surrounding the terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya on September 12, 2012. Four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens, died in the attack.

"The American people deserve the accountability and the finality that will come from the work of the select committee. Congressman Trey Gowdy, who is a fellow subcommittee chairman on the House Judiciary Committee, is an excellent choice to chair the select committee. He is a skilled former prosecutor whose interest is in the facts. It is my sincere hope that Democrats will join Republicans in a determined search for the complete truth."
